Isn’t this a fun week of giveaways?
Isn’t this a fun week of giveaways?
Welcome
to Day 4 of nwafoodie’s annual anniversary week of
giveaways! We are more than half
way through a week of daily giveaways, as my way of thanking you for being my
blogfriend. I think you will enjoy Day 1, 2, and 3, if you haven't already checked them out.
Today’s gift comes courtesy of John McLemore, chef and
author of two smoking, frying, and grilling cookbooks titled, “DADGUM That’s Good” and DADGUM That’s Good,
Too!” You might think that
cookbooks with a phrase like that would be, well, no-so-foodie. Wrong
you would be! After his team
contacted me about his cookbook, I immediately looked into it and realized it
is just the missing cookbook I need on my bookshelf. I asked for extras because it just might be yours, too. Are you into grilling? How does Balsamic Rib-Eye Steak
Sandwiches sound? Or Grilled
Peaches and Plums with Honey-Citrus?
Are you into frying? Thanksgiving
is just around the corner and you KNOW this is the year you are going to do
that deep-fried turkey. How about
a recipe called Garlic and Herb Deep-Fried Turkey? Are you into smoking?
THIS is going to be my new Fall/Winter food technique! How awesome does Smoked Chicken
Tenders, Smoked Mac & Cheese sound?
There is even a recipe from Arkansas own Governor Mike Huckabee’s Smoked
Tenderloin. If you are on Pinterest, John has pinned a bounty of recipes and ideas on his boards.

Full Disclosure: I received my very own copy of this cookbook (and yes, it is awesome!!) and two Arkansas Razorback lapper trays for tail-gaiting (I gave these to my friend Rachel's son, Colton, who is a crazy hog fan). But wait, there's more... I even got a special treat when he was in town for the Cabella's grand opening day. I got treated to breakfast with him and Alicia McGlamory, Marketing Guru for Masterbuilt (John is CEO). They were so completely personable, that I am now a loyal fan to their company and the grilling, smoking, frying products they make. Okay, maybe not frying (that's just not who I am) but smoking - yes! John and Alicia surprised me with a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. Let's just say that I plan to share with you exactly how easy it is to smoke (and yes, use his recipes as a guide and create my own, of course). Now, if I could just finish remodeling my home and move in so I can get started. Stay tuned...

Ribs! And grilling. We grilled almost every night this summer
ReplyDeleteYum and yes! Grilling is so easy -- keep it going throughout the fall and winter, too!
DeleteI prefer to grill.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I have smoked before and it was fun. Can't wait to try out the smoker and see how easy it is!
DeleteMy husband usually does the grilling, but I prep the meat and veggies. I don't really fry anything, but eggs and bacon. We've had a green egg for 13 years and have never used it as a smoker.
ReplyDeleteSo...I guess the answer is grilling or is it I need the cookbook to learn. Randomizer may actually answer this one.
At the very least, go to www.dadgumthatsgood.com and browse the free recipes (and the pinterest page, too!)
DeletePick me, pick me randomizer. I prefer grilling, rarely fry anything, but would be willing to come to nwaFoodie's house for some cooking lessons.
ReplyDeleteOooo, that would be awesome! Except that I cannot teach frying because I've never done it before. Grilling, yes. Smoking? Soon! Maybe I will create video lessons... or, just come down here and we can do video lessons together. Deal?
Deletegrilling i think
ReplyDeletegkuroda(at)gmail(d0t)com
It's time to experiment, Gail! Fall weather is just the inspiration, too! :)
DeleteI'm more of an inside the house "cooker", but not a lot of frying. My husband is a griller. I love his grilled corn on the cob.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a really special corn on the cob. Your husband needs this book because he would like it. I read the recipe titles to my husband and he really did get excited!
Deletegrilling! love some grilled filet! (although rc does it best!)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm.... grilled filets!
DeleteI would love to gift this to my husband :)
ReplyDeleteThis would be a GREAT gift for him! Keep the amazon link on hand... well worth the price in case you don't win!
DeleteI love grilling and I make a darn good marinated and grilled veggie salad if I do say so myself!
ReplyDeleteOooo.... tell me more!!
DeleteI prefer grilling, rarely fry anything: thanks another GREAT giveaway!
ReplyDeleteSame here... only smoking great intrigues me! Maybe it will for you, too!
DeleteThanks for your thanks! :)
PS cute bee.
I am quite possibly the WORST griller in the world. We are impatient. Have no skill. Terrible. But maybe, just maybe we could get better at it!
ReplyDeleteWe should have a 'worst griller in the world contest' -- Do you have a gas grill? That would help! I hope you win this book because you will be inspired by the ease of grilling. Good luck Jackie girl!
DeleteI absolutely love to grill! I'm not very good at it, but I love doing it! Usually, I can't get my charcoal to light up. But, hands down, steak is my favorite thing to grill.
ReplyDeleteAwhhh... but just the fact that you are using charcoal and not gas is impressive. I use gas because it is convenient but reallly want to make the switch. You go, girl!
DeleteI also facebooked this, but it's not letting me tag you!
ReplyDeleteThat's okay! It just means we aren't following each other... go ahead and follow me and I will follow you!
DeleteI love grilling. And surprisingly, one of my favorite things to grill are chicken wings...impossible to screw up. Believe me, I've tried.
ReplyDeleteHave you posted a grilled chicken wing recipe on your blog yet? If so, post the link here so we can see it!
