In the
business world, I am a full-time shopper insights manager at a leading CPG
company. I love understanding why people buy the things they buy. I view my career choice as a way to
serve others and it is extremely rewarding.
When I am
not blogging or working, most likely I am off somewhere with my very cute husband,
Dennis, eating and drinking.
| Honeymoon in the 80s... see how I have all the drinks and menu on my side? |
Is being a foodie genetic or acquired?
I was born
and raised a North Carolina Tarheel to two very Yankee Northerner parents who
are first generation Americans.
You could say that was the start of my love affair with trying
traditional/multi-faceted foods, simple/complex ingredients, and old-fashioned/uber-cool
gadgets.
You could
say that.
It wouldn’t
be true.
Truth is, I
started loving food the minute I discovered as a child that I could out-eat my
older brother.
| That's me in the 70s... waiting for someone to catch a fish so I can saute it up! |
So there was no big surprise then when I grew up I found the man of my dreams who courted me with food, instead of flowers.
The rest is
history.
My blog is no ordinary blog.
I am not
just a restaurant-reviewer who shares the occasional recipe or foodie event
news.
Nope. I am more than that.
My desire
is to give you the inside scoop to enable YOU to be the foodie expert within
your circle of friends and influence.
Inside
scoops such as discovering…
·
Where to eat in Northwest Arkansas
that is not your run-in-the-mill place
·
Foodie-finds for ingredients,
products, and gadgets
·
Tips and tricks for improving life,
one bite, chop or sip at a time
·
Consistent stream of really awesome
contests and giveaways
·
Recipes that bring out the foodie in
you
I don’t do
this alone.
I have folks
like you who help.
My original
desire for this blog was to share what I find in my spare time. In return I hoped that others, such as
you, would share back with me.
And of
course, I then share back with you.
That’s how
it works.
What is my foodie philosophy?
“Eat well,
my friends. Eat well.”
You will
see that phrase is threaded throughout all that I say. A foodie is someone who has a love for
food, the simplicity and complexity that is so marveling.
I believe that
a foodie means that you are a mindful eater.
I believe
that a foodie means you are thankful for every bite.
I believe
that a foodie respects food.
I believe
that a foodie knows that you are what you eat, mentally and physically.
I believe
that a foodie doesn’t mean you have to be a gourmand or a food snob.
I believe
that a foodie is curious to know how food is prepared, preserved, and planted.
I believe
that a foodie is always on the lookout to learn, grow, share, and serve.
I need you.
I get no
greater joy than when someone tweets, emails, comments, or facebooks me with a
food need.
It makes this
little ol’ hobby worthwhile.

Eat well, my friends. Eat well.
P.S. I
recently switched from a lifestyle of dairy-free (15+ years) and gluten-free
(5+ years) due to a really smart doctor discovering a simple amino acid and GLA
acid imbalance in my system. I
will not and cannot throw away years of experience in that area and will
continue to help others in their journeys.
